Contributing to Economic Growth

Increasing the concentration of highly skilled professionals in Hamilton and South Western Ontario will enhance the image of the region, redefining it as an area that is transitioning from an industrial based economy to a knowledge-based environment centred on advanced healthcare and research development.

The long awaited transition is certain to attract new investment as well as national and international attention for the corollary of achievements that are associated with this type of highly desirable economic development. In addition to attracting new investment and improving the reputation of Canada as an international innovator, CSii will also contribute to the development of the local economy by creating new jobs and funding student development in the South Western Ontario area as we work to expand our development and commercialization projects.

CSii projects will focus on the development of new technologies as well as new care programs to improve the health of Canadians, and will take the form of new product design through Research & Development, new care program implementation through the design and execution of health care delivery pilot programs, and through the leadership and participation in the clinical testing of new devices hoping to be launched into the Canadian health care arena.

The attention CSii is attracting from media, government agencies and academics should serve to fuel the interest of potential industry partners nationally and internationally as CSii reaches out to support compelling research projects and act as a research accelerator.

The Centre will work with industry and academic partners to access researchers, clinical investigators, engineers and medical personnel from partner corporations, host facilities and government agencies to extend the network of contacts and areas of expertise from the resources that are available through partnerships.

CSii is actively seeking ways to expand networks with industry partners and has taken a leadership role in the quest to form partnerships with Ontario CECRs and to develop opportunities for joint promotions and projects of mutual benefit.
